I am sure there are odd cases but in most these are very, very reliable units either as the 1.6 in the Auris or the Avensis 1.8/2.0. As an owner of a 2010 estate 1.8, the car was very reliable so far over the 50k I owned it (she is approaching 150k now and is getting a new clutch).
The Toyota Avensis is a spacious and comfortable long- Used Toyota Avensis saloon 2009-2015 For those who want a car that is easy to live with, reliable a The 2.2 D4D engine is one of Toyota’s most common engines in European models like the RAV4, Avensis and their other crossovers. And while excellent reliability is always expected from Toyota, you have to realize that simply the fact this is a diesel engine brings on a whole new plethora of possible issues.

For the really nerdy, if you spot a car with the indicators mounted in the mirrors, you've just seen a new Avensis. The most notable news is the 2.2-litre diesel (£21,515).

Not bad, even compared to more modern cars. Interestingly 0 - 62 mph for the same Avensis 2.0 diesel version is 9.7 seconds and for the 2.2 diesel it's 9.5 seconds, suggesting the petrol is quickest of the three! (Up to 62mph at least). Expand. I have had both the 2.2 Diesel (150bhp) & now the 1.8 petrol, both manual.
And yet the most expensive Avensis there is, loaded with kit, costs roughly the same amount as the cheapest, most basic Audi A6. The A6 is a great car, but the Avensis is a great buy. No summary of the Avensis can be given without mentioning reliability, if only because it remains amazing how far ahead or other manufacturers Toyota manages to
Honest John Overall Rating. The Toyota Avensis is brilliant at being mediocre, and we say that with a large dollop of affection. Hugely practical and robust, refined and quiet on the move, excellent diesel engines, especially the 2.0 D-4D, very reliable.

The point here is that Toyota approaches sewing machines the same way it does everything else; meticulously, and with absolute quality as the primary driving factor. And that's the real reason why they make the most reliable cars. A perennial bestseller in the U.S., the Toyota Camry is essentially unchanged for 2023. The hybrid is the marquee trim, delivering as much as 53 mpg in the base LE trim, but the four-cylinder
