I have two Hondas, a 2008 & 2019. Neither have a wireless CarPlay option and both have USB-A sockets. iPhone 14 worked fine in both. My new iPhone 15, is intermittent at best. It will connect about 30% of the time, and even when it does it will sometimes disconnect. So if it was a cable, I would think my experience would be different.
